Maryan Linux was in the Software Freedom Day at Colombia!

Thanks to Shruken, Maryan Linux was present in the Software freedom day 2008  at Colombia.

Shruken told us:

” I shared  30 copies for free of Maryan (I used all my CD’s and), also I shared some copies of  Ubuntu y some other Linux distributions …
Many people discovered the Enlightenment 17 desktop environment running on Maryan. They fell in love it!
Maty1206 helps me to installed Maryan in a memory flash USB.
Even it was installed in two computers with dual boot with XP”.

Thanks Shruken! =)

New look and feel for Maryan Linux stable 1 Aviccenia

There were many days since I announced the last news of the project.

I apologize for delay, as many of you know, I don’t work full time for Maryan Linux (even I wish it), but I use my free time at least 99% in this wonderful project.

When I’m too busy because the work, university and my family, I can’t work on Maryan Linux.
However, thanks the work of the news members of the Spanish speakers and English speakers, we have improved the look and feel of our distribution.

  • shruken : He is Colombian, young and smart. Nowadays he is designing some beautiful   wallpapers

  • Twnpm: He is Australian, very kind and collaborator. . Before he joined us, we did not have any one who can help us creating E17’s themes (except me). Now, thanks to his dedication and efforts, we have some E17’s themes exclusives for Maryan Linux.

I appreciate their efforts, time and artwork in Maryan Linux.

CONGRATULATIONS!

  • New Maryan Linux feature!!!

NEW Maryan Linux’s Official Easy-Install ( Linux Software Installer). It is based on a modified version of mintInstall from the LinuxMint distribution and is released under the GNU General Public License.

OpenGeu

What is OpenGEU? OpenGEU, previously known as Geubuntu, is a complete and fully functional operative system based on the popular Linux Distribution Ubuntu. OpenGEU, a project started and designed by the Italian artist Luca D.M. (aka TheDarkMaster), is perfect for any Desktop, Laptop PC or even for a Virtual Machine. OpenGEU mixes the power and simplicity of Ubuntu and parts of the Gnome Desktop with the wonder and astonishing eye-candy of Enlightenment DR17.

OpenGEU will be a new experience for any user trying to run a stand-alone E17 Desktop in the past. To know exactly what Enlightenment is, we suggest you visit the Home Page of the project. On the user side, E17 appears as an incredibly nice looking Desktop Shell, composed of a Window Manager, a full set of libraries, a Desktop and a collection of modules and applications. In this stage, Enlightenment alone is not enough to make you desktop fully functional, and it’s strange that so many people are pretending Enlightenment to become a full Desktop Environment like Gnome, KDE or XFCE.

  • Maryan Linux advantage

Opengeu developers had fixed the issue related to gnome-settings-daemon. IN fact, they were the first in included to a E17 distribution that technology. By the way, Maryan will be using this repository, but I had change some stuff. I hope that in a short-term period, we could begin to use our own repository.

Thanks to the new partners for they support and improvements.

We hope that all your wishes become real!!!
